I am Marisol Vega, and I started New Chapter Moving Company in 2015. I grew up on the East Side of Bridgeport, in a Puerto Rican family where everybody pitched in when a cousin or a neighbor was changing apartments. That is sort of where this began for me. A move was never just furniture; it was a family turning the page.
Before I ever owned a truck, I worked the labor myself. I carried couches up triple-deckers, I learned how a piano comes down a Black Rock staircase, and then I spent a few years running dispatch for a local outfit, watching how the schedule and the money actually worked. By 2015 I knew the part nobody was doing well: telling a Bridgeport family exactly what their move would cost, in writing, and then showing up with my own people to do it.
So that is what we are. New Chapter owns its trucks, six of them now, and the movers are W-2 employees in our shirts, not day labor I hire off a board. We do not subcontract your move to somebody else and hope it goes fine. When you book us, you get my crew: an estimator, a crew chief, and the same loaders from your driveway in Bridgeport to your hallway in Boston or Philly.
I love working this city because I know it. I know to plan around I-95 and Metro-North so we are not loading at rush hour, I know Seaside Park fills up on a warm Saturday, and I know the salt air off the Sound means we shrink-wrap your mattress in February whether you ask or not. We have done moves a block from Total Mortgage Arena and out to the far end of Fairfield County, and the standard holds every time.
How we grew
- 2015: Marisol launches New Chapter with one truck and a two-man crew out of a Bridgeport garage.
- 2018: Three trucks, a full-time estimator, and a real downtown office on Lafayette Blvd.
- 2021: Added long-distance runs down the I-95 corridor with our own crews end to end.
- Today: Six trucks, around nine full-time movers, and roughly twelve people on the team.
We are licensed through CTDOT with a Connecticut Household-Goods Carrier Certificate, and we carry US DOT and MC authority for the interstate jobs. We renew both on schedule, because the families who hire us are starting something, whether it is a first house, a downsize, or a fresh start, and they deserve a mover who treats it that way.
