Bridgeport apartments come in two flavors, and New Chapter Moving Company handles both. Downtown you’ve got the high-rises around Lafayette Blvd and the harbor with strict building rules; over in Black Rock and the West End you’ve got the classic triple-deckers with their long, skinny staircases. Our own crews know each one cold.
High-rise COI and triple-decker stairs
For a Downtown tower, the building manager almost always wants a Certificate of Insurance on file before move day, plus a reserved freight elevator and a loading-dock window. We file the COI ahead of time, name the building exactly as they ask, and schedule the crew around your elevator slot so you’re not paying for movers to stand around waiting.
The Black Rock and West End triple-deckers are a different puzzle. Those third-floor stairwells are narrow, the turns are tight, and a queen box spring rarely clears the corner the easy way. Our movers hoist over railings when they have to, pad the banisters, and bring a shoulder dolly for the long climbs. We’ve cleared enough of these stairs to know which sofas come apart and which ones go up on their side, and we measure the narrowest landing before move day so there are no surprises.
One detail people forget: parking. The West End and Black Rock side streets get tight, so we scout a spot for the truck close to the door and keep the carry short, which on an hourly job keeps your cost down. Downtown, we coordinate the loading dock so the crew isn’t hauling a dresser the length of a lobby.
Apartment moves are billed hourly at $155/hr for two movers or $215/hr for three, with a studio flat band of $415–$600 and a one-bedroom at $640–$960. A $150 deposit holds your date and applies to the total.
