Renting your own truck or a portable pod and just need strong, careful hands? New Chapter Moving Company does labor-only loading and unloading, and there’s no equipment minimum to book it. You supply the rental truck, the U-Haul, or the moving container; our own uniformed movers do the heavy lifting and pack it tight. Labor runs $155/hr.

We load it like it’s going cross-country

A truck or pod that’s loaded loosely shifts on I-95 and arrives with dents and scratches. Our crew loads the way we’d load our own trucks: heaviest pieces over the axle, furniture padded and stood on end to save floor space, a snug tier-by-tier wall so nothing slides on the Merritt Parkway curves. We’ll wrap the dressers and mattresses, strap the load to the rails, and tuck the soft boxes into the gaps. If you booked a pod through one of the container companies, we work right at your Bridgeport curb on your drop-off window.

Loading is honestly where most DIY moves go wrong. People rent the right-size truck and then stack it badly, and by the time it’s bounced down I-95 the dresser has gouged the headboard. Our crew builds the load in tight walls, fills the dead space with soft boxes, and ties off each section so nothing topples when the truck takes the Route 8 on-ramp. You drive; we just make sure what’s inside arrives the way it left.

Because it’s labor only, you can hire us for as little as an hour — one heavy sectional, a garage full of gym gear, whatever you’ve got. A $150 deposit holds the slot, and the same $0.60/lb released-value coverage applies to the items our crew handles.
