Local Moving in Bridgeport & Fairfield County

A Bridgeport move shouldn’t eat your whole weekend, and with New Chapter Moving Company it usually doesn’t. Our own uniformed crews and our own six trucks handle local jobs all over Fairfield County, from a Black Rock condo to a four-bedroom in Trumbull. We bill local work by the hour: $155/hr for a 2-mover crew and truck, or $215/hr when you need a third set of hands for a bigger load. Blankets, dollies, straps, and tools are already on the truck.

What a local move day looks like

Most of our Bridgeport jobs run on the same rhythm, and knowing it ahead of time takes the guesswork out.

  • 7:30–8:00 am: Marisol’s crew arrives, walks the rooms with you, and tapes a quick plan.
  • 8:00–10:30 am: we pad and shrink-wrap furniture and load the truck, heavy pieces first.
  • Mid-morning: we roll out, timing I-95 and the Route 8 ramps to skip the worst shoreline backups.
  • Arrival: we place every box in the right room and reassemble beds and tables.
  • Wrap-up: a final walkthrough, then the clock stops.

Because we dispatch out of our own yard on Lafayette Blvd, the crew can read the day. A morning slot beats the school-run congestion on Park Ave and the Fairfield Ave lights; a winter job gets extra shrink-wrap so road salt and slush off the Sound never touch the wood. If you’re moving between two Bridgeport neighborhoods — say the North End to Stratfield — we usually finish a one-bedroom in a single morning.

Prefer a fixed number instead of the clock? We also quote flat bands: a studio runs $415–$600, a one-bedroom $640–$960, and a two-bedroom $1,080–$1,620. A $150 deposit locks your date and comes off the total. Released-value coverage is included at $0.60/lb, with full-value protection available if you want the extra cushion.

“Booked the two-mover crew for a one-bedroom and they hit the $155 hourly rate right on the dot, no padded time. Honest from the deposit to the last box.”

“Downsized my dad out of his Black Rock place near the harbor and into assisted living. It's an emotional thing and the crew handled it with real care. They were gentle with him and just as gentle with his old furniture. They took apart his recliner so it would fit through the narrow door of the new room and put it right back together inside. Nobody rushed a man who needed to go slow that day. When he got confused about which boxes were which, the lead just walked him through it calmly. They treated him like family, plain and simple. And the flat quote held even though we added two extra boxes at the door.”

Questions?

Service FAQ

When does the hourly clock actually start?
It starts when our crew walks through your door in Bridgeport and stops after the final walkthrough at the new place. We don't bill you for the drive from our Lafayette Blvd yard.
Should I pick the 2-mover or 3-mover crew?
A studio or one-bedroom usually moves fine with two movers at $155/hr. For a townhouse, a 2-bed with stairs, or a tight timeline, the 3-mover crew at $215/hr finishes faster and often costs less overall.
Can you handle a move within the same building?
Yes. Floor-to-floor and unit-to-unit moves inside one Downtown tower are common for us, and they're billed hourly like any other local job.
What if my move runs into a Nor'easter?
We shrink-wrap against slush and road salt and pad the ramps. If a coastal storm makes the roads genuinely unsafe, we'll call you and reschedule rather than risk your furniture.
